You understand by viewing this website you will be introduced to information about an innovated energy-based therapeutic, coaching, and self-help method based on the newly emerging field of energy psychology called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as EFT Tapping. EFT Tapping seeks to address imbalances within a person’s energy system, as well as the energetic influence of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions on the body. The prevailing premise of EFT Tapping is that the cause of all negative, challenging, and/or stressful emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. It is believed that EFT Tapping helps clear these disruptions, thereby restoring the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies. EFT Tapping uses gentle self-administered tapping on acupressure points located on the face and upper body while focusing on issues of emotional intensity in order to release the intensity and reframe the issues. The theory of energy-based methods such as the EFT Tapping is that the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies are important for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and for fostering well-being.
EFT Tapping has three (3) distinct applications, one is for emotional disturbances, trauma, psychological disorders, and pain management, second is for wellness, stress management, and peak performance, and the third is as a self-help tool. Therefore, EFT Tapping can be used within a psychotherapeutic setting with licensed mental health care clinicians that have been fully trained and certified in EFT Tapping. In addition, EFT Tapping can be used by unlicensed practitioners as a protocol for example in coaching sessions, or as a tool in an allied health care practice by individuals that have been fully trained and certified in EFT Tapping. Therefore, how EFT Tapping can be used within a professional practice depends upon the legally defined scope of practice applicable to the practitioner. In addition, EFT Tapping can also be used as a self-help technique and shared with family members and friends.
Although EFT Taping appears to have promising physical, mental, and emotional health benefits, and there is a growing amount of scientific research indicating that EFT Tapping is an effective evidence-supported technique, especially for managing stress, it is considered outside traditional Western approaches to health and wellness and has yet to be fully accepted by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities. Therefore, EFT Tapping is currently not officially identified as an evidence-based technique and may be considered experimental. EFT Tapping is self-regulated and no state in the United States licenses EFT practitioners and it is considered an alternative or complementary method in the United States
